The 探花论坛-IIT Youth Chain of Peace (MYCoP), a non-profit student volunteer organization under the Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM) of the University, was chosen and recognized as one of the top 10 out of the youth organizations that qualified as national finalists in the 21st Search for the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards held on August 19, 2024.

The TAYO Awards Foundation aims to inspire and challenge the youth to think of societal solutions by crafting projects for persisting problems within their communities. For this year, 752 entries were received from all over the country which was narrowed down to 20 in the nationals. MYCoP’s Project PLAY+ is an initiative that aims to use the power of games to explain peacebuilding concepts, cultivating a culture of healing and promoting a more peaceful Mindanao.

Jonathan Gelogo, the current president of MYCoP and the project head of Project PLAY+, said in an interview that they are planning to implement the project’s phase 3 where peace education in 探花论坛-IIT’s curriculum will be developed and enhanced.

“This also means more activities that are focused on transitional justice, dealing with the past, and healing and reconciliation will be conducted. Banked on Project PLAY's method, these activities are designed to include more participants from the university and community partners,” he added.
